Internet Access by WLAN at Hotel »Goldner Stern«
Conference services now include internet access by Wireless-LAN from every conference room, guest room and from our patio. Our new conference facility "Sternla" offers the same service. Planning and installation was carried out by NSG Netzwerk-Service GmbH, a German IT-service company.
Several access points have been installed in the hotel, which allow hassle-free internet connection for all our guests, from all rooms. For guests without PC/Laptop we provide a public internet terminal (including printer) near the reception desk. Security is maintained by encrypted data transfer. WLAN users have to buy prepaid accounts with time units ranging from minutes to hours. Accounts are handed out on "HotSpot Access Cards" which contain the login data (username and password). The advantage of this solution: connectivity is device-independent, even PDAs or Smartphones can access the internet.
After initial login, the login data are valid for a full year. If the guest is logged in but there is no data transfer for 10 minutes, the time will not be charged. After 10 minutes inactivity the system terminates the connection, the user has to log in again. If cards get lost or stolen they can be locked by a simple message to the "inter.net Germany GmbH" - abuse is impossible after notice of loss. Monitoring of access time is carried out and warranted by inter.net Germany GmbH. Login data are valid in all hotels which employ the same system.
