The "Goldner Stern" ("Golden Star"), a family-owned hotel with long-standing tradition, is situated in the center of the climatic health-resort Muggendorf. You find our village right in the heart of the "Franconian Switzerland", a most beautiful landscape with romantic rivers, bizarre rocks, enchanting caves and medieval castles. It is one of the most visited vacation areas all over Germany and - besides being a hiker's paradise - offers a wealth of leisure time activities ranging from culture to recreation to sports.
Traditional Roots, Modern Services
Although the origins of the hotel date back to the year 1668, our house is up-to-date: our new spa services offer advanced treatments, and our conference facilities are equally well equipped. We have been given a four star rating by the "German Hotel and Restaurant Association". Our comfortable restaurant with non-smoking areas and a patio is open not only to our guests, but to all visitors and hikers as well.

On Juli 1st. 2007 our hotel joined the community - so far the only hotel in the "Franconian Switzerland".
We once again improved and expanded our spa area:
- swimming pool with counterflow system
- infrared sauna
- meditation sauna
- steam bath with ample resting room
- new room for treatments
- additional treatments
Finally our rating has been upgraded: the "German Hotel Classification increased our rating from "Three Stars Superior" to "Four Stars" . In other words: the "Goldner Stern" becomes a "First Class" hotel, the only one in the center of the Franconian Switzerland around Muggendorf. Does this spell "higher prices" for our guests? The answer is a resounding "No!" - the higher rating does not lead to higher prices: not in our restaurant, not in our hotel, not in our conference facilities. This means that our already very good price/performance-ratio has improved once more.
